With the tennis top spots being occupied by the same names repeatedly, it might be time for someone new to take over. Click here to find out about four promising tennis players who might soon climb to the very top.

With the Big 3 getting on in their years alongside the Williams sisters and other big names, it might not be too long before the current stars of tennis have retired. Here are some of the new rising stars that fans should definitely keep an eye on as they grow.

Dominic Thiem

The Austrian might not be a new sight on the tennis courts of the world, but he is a strong contender to break the dominance of Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and Novak Djokovic. He has made it to the final of several Grand Slams over the years, and even came close to snatching the Australian Open Champion titlefrom Djokovic’s grasp in January 2020. He is a strong player on clay, but we have seen him make improvements on other surfaces too, so it might not be too long before we manage to see him dominate at a competition.

Jack Draper

Draper is the son of a former Lawn Tennis Association chief executive, so there is a strong legacy of tennis at play here. He came runner-up in the boys’ singles at Wimbledon in 2018 and we might continue to see him continue to rise as he enters the adult tournaments. He has a very strong all-round game, and his experience playing on the sometimes difficult-to-master grass surfaces of some British courts should put him in good stead for the future. Those who like to keep an eye on tennis betting odds will hopefully see some favourable ones for him emerge in the future.

Aidan McHugh

McHugh could be one of the next big tennis stars to emerge from Scotland, and has found himself under the mentorship of Andy Murray – with some even going so far as to describe the young Scot as Murray’s protégé. He has so far had the chance to play at Wimbledon as both a singles and a doubles player, and has proven himself to be good at both. Who knows, we could even see a potential sporting rivalry growing within British tennis between him and Draper in the future.

Alexander Zverev

Zverev has been ranked as high as No. 3 amongst worldwide tennis players by the ATP, and we could potentially see him take home a Grand Slam title too. He has made it to several semi-final and final matches, and managed to take home the gold in the singles competition at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics – which included beating Djokovic on the way. Aged just 24, he has plenty of chances to claim a major title in the next few years.

A sport like tennis always means that you are going to be able to find plenty of young players who could prove to be the next big thing. Though several names have dominated the courts for the past few years, it could be time for fresh players to really make their mark on the sport. Any of the players above could rise to become the best of the best soon!

How do you profit from tennis betting?

There is no single ‘one size fits all’ approach. Tennis Tips UK have been fine tuning the selection process since way back in 2013. For a comprehensive insight into our thesis try exploring our tennis betting research articles.

I’m looking for a more hands-on approach, what do you recommend?

Some punters prefer to actively select or trade their own markets. The same thesis as before regarding compounding can still apply in this situation but crucially you’ll need to be able to find and back value bets yourself. There are advanced tools that let you identify +EV bets, see where sharp money is betting and apply complex filters to find markets that meet your criteria.

What about responsible gambling?

All forms of sports betting, including club picks, need to follow strict responsible gambling principles. The crucial one – never bet with funds that you can’t afford to lose. This means the assigned bankroll needs to be surplus to requirements. Adopting a long term, investment style approach as described previously will put you on the right path but this never replaces the ten golden rules of responsible gambling.

Why join the club?

It offers an investment approach to sports betting that allows disciplined members the ability to gradually grow their bankroll over time. Another key benefit of staking a fixed percentage of bankroll per match is that it scales and crucially compounds returns. Here is an explanation of the concept. This means over time your bankroll can grow exponentially and has resulted in multiple long term club members building pots in excess of £1M. Just remember at this level new challenges present themselves such as trying to get such large stakes accepted or matched but there are solutions out there and of course there is also the option to quit and retire.
